Hi, guys
This is a question and announcement:
I want to donate as a Christmass/New Year gift to our community one of my scenes. It is the afternoon scene as can be seen in the gallery here (actualy a little updated and refined). Scene will be completely textured and along with my light settings for Vray render in .max file (version 7).
Also, I will post this scene as a Christmass/New Year render and texturing challenge thread. It will be posted as a raw .max and .3ds file with all explanations...
My question (for Russel and other administrators/moderators) is - should I post gift scene along with chalange or should I send it to you guys and you place it where you see fit?
I am almost donewith preparation, so I think to post chalange tomorrow morning...

D.sign,
Probably the easiest is for you to send the files to us so we will post them on our servers and not overload your own personal site or hosting account. You can make the post and rules and we can just add the links or provide the links to you, however you want to procede. I am just going out the door for work, I will PM you later and we can discuss it in more detail. Sounds very cool

don't forget other object formats so others can play along. .obj seems pretty universal, and if time allows, i'd be delighted to convert to a .lwo as i did with the dining room challenge. happy holidaze
Sure, I will make it as .obj also.
Russel, I was thinking, since the files are not so large - textures are 750kb zipped, .max file is about 1.0Mb zipped, so is .3ds, perhaps I could post it as attachements along with thread? Tell me what do you think about that...

d.sign,
Attachments are fine if they are small enough. PHP and Vbulletin seem to have a maximum file size limitation of 2 or 4 megs, can't remember, so go for it and if it doesn't work just e-mail them to me and I will upload them to the server.
I have thought about it a little and thought I would toss this out, how about we put the gift version with textures in our database of resources that will be coming up with the new main site that is being done as we speak and post the challenge versions with a challenge now. This way everyone has to come up with their own textures and settings for the challenge, but will have access to your 'gifted version' shortly? Just an idea, since you are the generous one here, you just let us know what you would like to do.
