Cool Mark Smith - Modular Giant

Hi fellow 3D Nutz

Here's the first sketch of my concept...

This very precise and detailed (cough cough) sketch is of a tall skyscraper city. It is based on 3 very thin columns with external lifts, modular flats are built on the columns and then the building progresses to more and more ambitious structures, to observation decks, an aircraft reception port, a large community restuarant, etc....
Engineers will probably think this is a idea.
Architects if given this project to map out would say
But I'm going ahead anyway. To me it contains all the elements necessary for this competition.
This drawing was done on an A6 jotting pad, just in case 3D beginners want to make notes on how I go about one of these projects.

Re: Modular Giant

Yes. You see it's all about placement of the columns and the materials used. In this case the columns will be pure titanium alloy. Hmmm... I've changed my mind. It will be rectangularly patterned titanium around hardwood.
The skyscraper is taller, but my A6 pad didn't allow me to express this fully.

Re: Modular Giant

cybeo, nice concept. i would request you to give us your full name so that i can chage the title of your thread, according to the contest rules your full name should be mentioon before the project name. it's always better to read the contest rules before starting it

One more thing, the images has to be attached using the "Manage Attachment" tools. You can not post entry with hyper-linking images from another site.

good luck

Re: Mark Smith - Modular Giant

Here's the basic modelling for the base. It unintentionally looks a bit complicated so will probably tweak it later on, plus it has to allow for the movement of cars so will probably revise the whole thing. Also the columns aren't at a specific height this will be worked out when I've added the top structure.
