Hi!
i just want u guys to let me know why r those blotches comin in that image.
Need help for same. It also takes 14hrs to render. Can anyone let me know how to getover it. Its done with vray and max
THanx!
Tejal, the splotches are because of the low samples. Also, 14 hrs is a very long time (offcourse it depends on the output size and your machine). If you post your settings here we can tell you exactly what is causing this...

Or you could just pretend that it is a custom spunge paint technique, that's what I do! LOL Seriously what are your samples set at, or better yet show these guru's your settings

The samples you have taken are high enough, I usually get away with much lower samples without getting any splotches. Try increasing the interp. samples to 25, but reduce the preset to medium, it won't make much noticable difference here and reduce the rendering time a lot. I remember once I was getting strange splotches in a scene inspite of high samples, they were gone if I unchecked the refractive caustics...your's don't look like that but still you may try it if increasing samples still does not help.
About the render times, there is nothing wrong using exponential color mapping. However, when you take that, the light intensity has to be very high and that increases the render time a lot.
Also, LC is faster than QMC for interiors.

Yes, but probably here Tejal didn't save an IR map as this is just a single frame. But one can still get away with minor tweaks without recalculating the IR map provided the objects in the scene are not moved around.

ouch ya some settings dont need to be super high especially in the rqmc sampler area those will really slow down your render if you set them in over kill mode (too high)

Agree with neha about the settings.. but image is looking good ... nice one
Since your settings are way to high.. my friend and your just doing 3d-Stills so better tweak it a bit..for less render time..
heres a good settings..
GLOBAL switches; MAx depth = 4
primary bounce = IRRA
2ndary bounce = L cache
RQMC SAMPLER = 4
IMAGEsampler= adaptive QMC
Filter mode = AREA
IRRA-mode = Single frame
LC-mode = single frame
RQMC sampler (irra) =0.003
once the IRRA and L cache has fiinish its computation you may save it as a file and just RELOAD it every time you do a render...(no computation and straight to rendering)
"Render from file" then select the VRMAP & VRLmap...
then hit RENDER...
hope this help...
