Haven't posted any work in a while cause I haven't been really doing any rendering until lately.
Anyway our office is getting a copy on Viz2008 soon, so I am messing with a demo of Max9 in the meantime. I am totally new to mental ray but they have made it a lot easier to use. Let me know what you think.

Looking real good, only comment so far is that the bricks look like they may be slightly overscaled, I could be wrong of course Yes, Mental Ray is sweet!

You took a good direction with MR, but the ground plane is too bright which cause the problems with FG as you can see in shadwoed area of the blank buildings... it should be darker and closer to textures you used on the buildings... Also the exposure control looks like some other type than logaritmic which should be used for daylight system... though I may be wrong about that...
Here's some progress. D.sign thanks for the tip. It was set to Logoriithmic but just too high. I am starting to slowly get the hang of MR and am loving it.

Those are really good... last one especially... be carefull with the people though...
I would suggest to texture the ground with some darker concrete texture so the splotches are not obvious...
Thanks for the CC. The ground plane will not be that white material in the final rendering. There will be some sort of paving I assume. I just got the landscape plan so there much more detail. As for the people I am just trying to figure out how I am going to do the people at this point. Not sure what the best route is yet.

Very nice works. Love the lighting of your last image. MR became more powerfull in Max 9 for its new Daylight System. There is a very good example of mental Ray Daylight System in 3DSMax Tutorials.
