Medical Office exteriors

This the most current project that I am rendering in our office. I am using Max 2008 with MR and RPC content. C&C's always welcome as I am new to MR.

Hey Taylor, there is a lack of contrast in your image. I think you have to work with your lighting and rendering and may be with the material shaders also. I think you should change trees and people. These are not atall going with your scene. And another thing, change cars shader. Use MR Car Paint material or A&D Material. I like the modeling, Very nice.

Re: Medical Office exteriors

Yeah I agree Neil. I am new to MR, so I am sort of in foriegn territory. The contrast isn't there yet for sure. It most likely isn't the shaders seeing that most of them came from Jeff Patton's free MR library. I am working with the exposure controls to get it to look right. As far as the people and cars go; it's RPC which isn't working that well with MR. I have a tech support request out on that issue. Thanks for the help! I will post more WIPs as I produce them.

Here are some updates. Just ignore the entourage because I am working with Tech Support on the RPCs.

The lighting & contrast is much better now
I feel you need to work more on the textures like asphalt, grass & pavers. You can use the round corner option in MR A & D material for the footpaths...the edge looks very sharp right now.

Much much better now. Nice job. Now I think you are getting confidence on MR. Your exposure controller also working well . Well done Taylor. Few things I think you can change. You have to add variation of trees. Trees looks identical in your image. I agree with Neha about Grass, pavers and asphalt and footpaths.

Yes, much better, didn't really want to comment the first go around The 2T's (textures and trees) are what you need to work on now If I had the time I would try to create an MR texture repository for everyone, but I just don't have the time, if people wanted to take on the challenge of collecting/creating MR materials, we would figure a way to host them for everyone, might not be as slick as the maxwell or Vray sites, but we would work on it.

Good joy Taylor, improving all the time.

I see how you are Russell. I am not good enough for you? sob, sob. ha ha ha. It's all good.

Thanks for tips guys. I will put that into play for sure.

Right now I am trying to render the interior lobby of one of those buildings. Just when I was starting to get more confidence too. ha ha. I will post that as soon as it's "worth commenting on." ;-P

Re: Medical Office exteriors

If you loose the entourage you would have nice starting point... light is nice, overall tone too...
Generally, close-up images look much better than wider shots...
Why do not try with different entourage?
The Marline studios have nice low poly 3d trees... you can purchase whole bundle or get a free sample, which I tried and used in my scenes... not so heavy if you use it as proxy or external reference... and result is good for this type of rendering you are after... for some of the angles you could use the 2d trees with alpha... same producer or some other... I use ambient light... nice and affordable...
For people I like to use photoshop people... that way I can control the opacity, position, size, color, add diffuse glow etc. etc.... or even make a ghost or shade people... silouethe type of people...
As Neha pointed, you could work a bit on the details in modeling and materials... grass texture is repeating, you might need to use some that does not... there are some nice at ambient light bundle... also they have free samples that you may use for your work... grass included... actually, lawn grass texture... you may find it usefull here...

Re: Medical Office exteriors

Yeah I looked into the Marlin studios stuff. It's really cool. Onyx does some good stuff too. I have messed with that Billboard Generator as well. It works pretty well for some things.

I will work on the textures per all of your suggestions. I was manly posting to get comments on the lighting as I am aware of the tiling issues with some of the materials. I appreciate all your suggestions and thank you for the help!!!

Here's what I am working on right now. Learning interiors for the time being. Have a lot of things to learn obviously still.
