Exterior Rendering with direct sun and artificial...

Hey guys, its been a while since I have posted here so please excuse the interruption.

I have been working on exterior office buildings in which the client wants to see direct sun lighting the scene with a blue sky as well as artificial light highlighting pieces of the architecture. Additionally, he wants to see the glass lit from the interior.

So here are my issues:
1. The building has green/blue reflective glass which by nature does not like to show light from behind.
2. The scene is too bright for the artificial light to become a factor.
3. Perspective is exactly the one the client wants however the foreground is lacking.

Setup:
Vray with Viz
Skydome (inverted sphere, normals flipped, hdri mapped onto it)

Any help is greatly appreciated. Image attached.

Nice modeling and textures. I like to highlight few points. The sky is very off with this scene. May be you can use more blue morning sky. The sun direction can be from front of a corner. May be you can tweak with you exposure controller on brightness and contrast issue

Re: Exterior Rendering with direct sun and artificial...

I have updated the rendering a little with those suggestions, minus the sky. That will be done in post. Is there a way to really highlight the building with artificial lighting and sunlight?

Re: Exterior Rendering with direct sun and artificial...

You could do a couple layers in post production with a slight glow of outside edge on building layer and/or a diffuse glow as well and pwerhaps trying some self illuminating interior ceilings and maybe walls to use as an effect layer as well. There are lots of options in post production, those are just some ideas.

P.S. Yes it is a long time since your last post, what the hell happened to you! LOL Good to have you back.

Re: Exterior Rendering with direct sun and artificial...

Thanks for the advise. I have wasted a lot of time trying to o this in he rendering and maybe I should do it in post, saving myself the headache.

I've been around, just not in the forums or really on the site for that matter. I should be on the forum every day since my renderings haven't gotten much better. I just don't have the ime to spend on them any more.

Re: Exterior Rendering with direct sun and artificial...

I just wanted to update the discussion with the latest client proof.
I still have some things to do to it (entourage and such) and render high quality settings.

Re: Exterior Rendering with direct sun and artificial...

Thank Neil. I had to renderin our reflection and shadow passes and post in PS. It is a first for me. Not the best but the client was also happy about the progression. Any other tips are well apreciated.

Thanks, Guys
