Re: Interior rendering

There are a couple of ways to make that dark wall emit more illumination than it is supposed to be. While vray is physically correct, you don't really need to be by the book all the time. Some approaches that I could think of aside from what has been mentioned already:

The easiest one is to ramp up the right wall's GI contribution more than the default value.

Or you could put an invisible bright-colored plane (GI receive property off) slightly above the dark wall and make that emit ambience in the color of your choosing.

Or slap an invisible vray light portal in front of the dark wall. (if it's good infront of windows and openings, it better be good in pushing out the colors from objects behind it!)

Goodluck.

Re: Interior rendering

Well, I finished my work.
Thank you for helping me with this difficult situation.
I had very tight deadline for this project.
Everything was done within 4 days (i slept 6 hours total )
I had to model almost everything in the scene.
This is my second architectural visualization project.

I didn't manage to implement all the techniques you guys recommended.
I managed to convert the scene to gamma 2.2, and it really helped.
Color mapping type is Reinhard with burn value 0.5.
Images are a little noisy, because of the deadline (9 rendered images)
No PS edit was done.
C&C are more than welcome...

Jerk! How dare you tell us that this is only your second architectural visualization! Kidding of course very nice work. Some may think they are a bit dark for architectural visualization, but I think they are probably pretty accurate. Very nice work in any situation, the tight deadline just makes it rediculous!

Re: Interior rendering

Very nice work. Of course, there are some issues, like AA problems (that may be the due to compression done on the images, not sure) and coarse reflection in the chromium could be cause you did not check on the subpixel color mapping...
Personally I always do some PS on images, that can really help to push them up in quality...
PS can help you -
- bring up the brightness and contrast
- play with gamma and exposure after the rendering (especially if you save in hdri format such as open exr)
- improve overall balance of levels in the image
- sharpen up the edges
- color correct image
- add background images
- add some glow/bloom to the images
Anyway, you should be happy, you did very good job considering the deadline and fact that you are still new to this field...
Keep posting your work, it was interesting to see your progress...

LOL! Registering under a 'nume de plume' won't stop me from changing names, 'simplyjealous2' or 'IMsimplyjealous' would work as well

Re: Interior rendering

Thank you everybody for this kind words. It is easy to be enthusiastic with this level of support.

Sorry for mistake, I was sleepy when I posted my work. I meant to say that this is my second 'professional' arch. viz. project. I did a lot of research before entering this field. Also, my first project lasted longer so I had time to study on my mistakes.
I have good experience in 3ds max with modeling.
Nevertheless, I am quite happy with my progress, to tell you the truth.
That progress was very much induced with help from here.

The images are dark, but that brown wall just eats the light

My client had specific needs regarding textures of materials so I had to be careful once I achieved the desired look. I got really too many too good advices here to implement them all in time. Also, I had to experiment with the curtain material, and staircase modeling techniques. Oh, isn't this job great!

About the PS editing... I put those pictures in the background via PS, because I assumed it is standard procedure. I meant to say that there was no changes in PS, regarding the color correction, although that part with hdri images was considered, but I only had time to save images for web.
AA was regular, I think thats bad sampling you see.

See you soon
