Working on a community center, this is the start of the great room. Hope to get some help as to where to go from here, not really a club house sorta guy
Hey thats nice stuff Rod. Modelling is good. However you could increase the lighting a bit. Whats behind the camera. Is there any opening like window or a door. if it's there then U could add up some lighting from them. Or else, light up the interiors with those chandeliers.
Few more points ... just to make it better.
The light at the lower french window is burning. Decrease the intensity.
The floor tiling is repeating. was it intentional.
The BG is a bit dull now. With so much of light coming from outside. It shud be a bit over exposed.
Waiting to see the updates soon

good points Kiittea, the floor is supposed to be one of those textured commercial carpets, I'm not sold on that either. I'm thinking of some kind of tile or stone.. there is a room behind the camera right now. Thinking of where a bride might get dressed before a wedding type of approach. I'm thinking about adding a skylight to get some more light into the room. I"ll tone down the light emitted from the bg and adjust my exposure...
WOW, nice piece of modelling Rod! Great stuff!
Comming along nicely.
The lights near the entrance are a bit overexposed, and the light towards the viewer is perphaps a bit too even, could use some falloff.
A good trick to do, is now take it to PS, roughly mess about with it, try to predict where you want to go this, the next step to take, and then when happy tweak the tweaks in your 3D app.
Very nice Rod!
I like model and light concept. Color scheme is also very nice and warm!
Perhaps adding skylight (just a thin strip) would make it more interesting as you would get some very nice shadows from sunlight going through your timber structure...
Floor texture is definitely off and I think stone or something with a bit of reflection would make it much nicer... just imagine reflection lines that would go down the floor...
On the left you have some furniture that may need attention... chairs are too bright IMHO and jump out a bit, would look better with darker wood, like roof structure...
P.S.
About getting more light inside check out this tutorial... it is actually about LWF and gamma 2.2, but you may find it useful... http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/vray...l_gamma_01.htm
Thanks guys, although this isn't where I want it to be as far as the furniture, and i'm still not sold on the floor, your advice will allow my going forward from here... I took out the back wall and added a window, and followed that great tut you pointed out D.Sign.. i feel like i may have the lighting monkey finally off my back....
I think that the flooring should be in a pattern that helps stop making this look like a glorified hallway (really nice scene Rod, but it feels lineal), I would do a border and horizontal (perpendicular to path of travel) at a few places like at the entry, the bottom of the stairs and in front of the camera so that there were inlaid squares of a different color/material that hinted at stopping and gathering.
Hope that made sense. In addition I would keep some of the warmer color soft the first one and consider some wall washer/sconce lighting to highlight the heavy timber trusses and the space between them. Just throwing ideas out there for consideration, you have a great start!

yeah, that's the way i feel about the floor too Russell. And the lighting as well. It is good to have to go darker for a change hehehe. I've a long way to go, and thanks for your ideas.
Excellent modeling Rod, I also like the overall composition.
I think left side sofa you can change. Not looking so good in my point of view. May be you can tweak with the bg picture once. You can use little shiny metal shader on the stair railling.
I know this work in still on WIP. Hope to see the progress very soon

hi
i think it would be better if u could use the same baluster design of the bridge on the stairs too..
and i agree with russels comments regarding the floor.. and neils on the furniture.
overall a very warm composition.. looking forward to the update!
