House

I want to share with you here on the forum the last work on my "drawing board". It is a "box" used now as a storage room that the assignor want to transform in a duplex habitation. This is about 500Km by me bur I know very well this construction; I have all the measurements and in Febbrary I will go there to take better photos and else.
Here is the photo:

I was invited to submit some initial sketches to choose the "new look" of this construction and I did this:

Now the problem is: the budget is so restricted and I can't use this style but a modern one. Here are other sketches before starting the 3d session. The corners are extended with little walls toothed with the old ones, creating a little space for the draining pipe (pluvial water).

Any C&C or supporting messages are well accepted.

Looks good Speedy. In the photo it looks like the masonry has rounded corners, this could be a kind of cool effect to implement in a modernisteic design, cube forms but with slightly rounded or fillet corners. It is also cool showing and emphsising the infrastructure like the roof drains in the design.

It could also be cool to have the walls become a random grid pattern that disects the space and penetrates the exterior envelope to create exterior spaces? Just some thoughts!

The attached sketch is not 'designed', just intended to demonstrate the grid system becoming planes that extend out of the shell creating exterior space and making the project appear larger. The final design would probably be more random with a low strong horizontal emphasis. I repeat this was just quickly done on the digitizer tablet in a couple quick moments, it is not meant as the design concept, it is to rigid and blocky. Just throwing out quick ideas and not meant to try to change the direction you are going, just part of the dialogue process.

The corners now are eroded by the winds and the water (I'll take better photos very soon): it has no roof on top. I think that your sketch shows better my intention to have walls protruding in the space around with crossing stairs and something else. So now I have putted down the ingredients, but I must explain these on the project.
I like your ideas so much..now I need to build the 3d to see if this concepts are good and accepted.
I have thinked white walls and chrome pipes there. The top is a frame structure not covered (for now) because the city hall urbanistic rules (how do you call them) are restrictive in this area. Moreover in the rear part there is a vineyard and I' ve thinked to have on top a pergola (bower) where people could have lunch in summer time with a good glass of red wine too!

I like this kind of work and I appreciate all your suggestions. More inputs are welcome.
Have a nice week.
Speedy

Look forward to seeing your work on it, the roof terrace sounds great. I thing Mies Van De Roe did a project where walls protruded and defined exterior space and I thought they could also serve as retaining/earth walls on your site if it is sloped like it appears. Good Luck

I am starting to see Richard Meier in this. I can picture his Ackerberg House. Nice simple project to really get your hands in every detail of the design. Can't wait to see more.

Here is the house I was talking about. Yours would not be as elaborate, of course.
