Re: Modrn Kitchen

Looks very nice, lot of shiny surfaces, I am not completely sure what is going on under the counter top across the room, but technically a very nice rendering.

Re: Modrn Kitchen

I think Russell means bellow the upper elements of the kitchen, there is probably mirror like surface in chromium but it is so reflective that it looks like there is a hole there and another room is visible behind it... I suggest to put there a bit of blurry reflection and change the IOR to about 10.0 if that is metal surface... If that should be mirror than fine... I suggest also to use falloff map in reflection slot to avoid so strong reflection in the lower part, behind the bar stools... also a bit of blurry reflection there would make it more convincing...
Anyway, your rendering is lovely, but I think that ceiling collide with the kitchen, being slanted like that... but that is matter of the design, not rendering. Possible solution would be to make narrow strip of suspended just a bit wider than kitchen elements, so you can put in it spot lights... Rest of the room can remain like it is with slanted ceiling...

Re: Modrn Kitchen

Yes Branko, you are right. That is tinted mirror below the counter. Is there a way to make that tinted mirror more real?Wonder if falloff should apply to mirror in real life?

Branko and kiittea are correct, I was pointing out that the area wasn't clear so to speak

Re: Modrn Kitchen

Great work IMHO having a plain fabric instead of a printed one on the lamp above kitchen would go better with the decor.

Re: Modrn Kitchen

Well if that is mirror, no need to apply falloff map... but you could do couple of things to try to define it a bit
- experiment with IOR a bit, I am not sure what should be the value, but you can check out on the net
- Try to make reflection color a bit different than pure white... perhaps slightly tinted in some other color would detach it from the rest of the room
- Try to put the linear light underneath the kitchen elements and that will make the mirror a bit uneven along it surface so it will be more defined...
- Make more obvious gap between the mirror and other surfaces, or thin frame to hold it...
- make a surface of the mirror smoothed, or simply make it of one chamfer box with smooth checked on, so the reflection is a bit distorted... or try with bump map with big size noise map... that should also help in distorting reflection...
