Architectural VisualizationTopics on the Practice of Architectural Visualization
I think the people who are quite good at it use the solid vs the semi-transparent based on the lighting in that position and the background the person is against. It is an artform in itself.
Could not agree more... again you well formulated what I tried to say earlier on...
I think this is actually very good topic for further discussion or challenge... For start we could have us thread where we could post good vs. bad examples of people integration, highlight different styles and approaches... Recently I spotted here on gallery couple of very good examples of low poly people integration by our member Segocarib... Segocarib's Images - 3DAllusions Gallery
The shato and bridge images... I think that textures are adjusted to match the color palette of the renderings...
Great example of subdued almost sepia color pallette of entourage to match the scene. Yes it is a good topic, but if I figure it all out I am not certain if I want to share it with everybody else! LOL kidding.. Yes a good topic we can start elsewhere.
This dialogue has led me to starting a thread on the discussion...

I will try to post good examples as I have the time, but for the most part I like black or white silhouette entourage and stylistic renderings, unfortunately that isn't what clients want.
As for examples here is one of white silhouette that has the artist logo, I don't know who did a lot of the examples I have saved in my digital scrap book and want to make sure everyone gets credit. Ginsun CG did the first one.
The Black Silhouette version is for Foster + Partners Clarence Hotel

ah man, ya got me, that was a daggon rabbit pellet! you trickster.
This will be helpful to help ferret out what actually works, hope it is a very active topic...
Seem to me that in stylized type of rendering there is more freedom to deal with entourage with artistic, experimental approach...
It is a bit more difficult to deal with people in pure photo realistic way... there are few samples I saw with that working good...
Here are first set of renderings by my favorite, now no more existing firm AURALAB, split now in two, Labtop and Luxigon... (both are featured here)

And here is how Olivier Campagne, artist who I respect very much, use just a few people, but make them fit perfectly in highly photoreal images...
I think part of the problem is that most of the time we are forced to put this issue in background or make it in the end in rather short time. We do not plan it along from the start and work on the images without people in mind...
That makes people stand out even more...
I remember one comic-cartoon artist said about inserting text in the clouds is something that artist should plan from the start and integrate it in the whole page composition... same here in our job, if we tend to make it as artform in itself

Ah, that's a great topic. Definitely I will post few from my archive.
