"Architectural Wonder" ContestContest Thread for Contest Entries. Post entries as per Contest Rules Here. Contest closed to further Entries.
I shall be creating a very modern commercial building. My sketching skills are very bad, but I like to think I more than make up for them with my modeling skills. None the less, as soon as I have a sketch rouged out I will submit it here. Expect the "cheezyness factor" to be rather high... consider yourself warned.

Welcome Aboard! Looking forward to seeing your concept, as stated in other threads, the purpose of the sketch is to show your initial concept which will evolve from there, no one (officially?, I can't speak for these other yahoo's! LOL) is judging it. Oh! By the way with a screen name like yours, a fair amount of cheezyness would not suprise me Look forward to seeing your work, good luck.

Thanks.. that makes me feel better. Can I do a simple 3D render as a sketch? The idea is to provide a conceptual visual right? Would a simple 3D render do?
Also, I haven't entirely decided which way to go with this yet.. I want it to be big, but there are lots of ways to make something big. And over all shape is still up in the air (glad I have 2 months! LOL). So can I post various conceptual images that I'm considering, and inform everyone of my decision once I've made it? Is there a limit? Am I asking too many questions here???
Thanks.

Since the rules state that a concept sketch is a milestone deliverable I feel that we have to stick with it. Submit a sketch and has your design evolves you can use 3D images to supplement it and show what direction you are going. The project can evolve and if you decide to abandon your original concept I would suggest providing verbal and graphic illustration of the new concept and just make the new direction clear. Your design can evolve into something else, just document it and follow the deliverables requirements. The contest should be fun, but following the requirements will help make sure no one is upset over an entry or the process not being followed. I hope you have a fun time!

Conceptual drawing (laugh, come on, you know you want to!)
This is my second concept (my first only exists right now as a simple render of an object which I can't post here for the sketch, and I've yet to actually draw it freehand yet) which I drew on graphpaper. I don't have a scanner, by my palm pilot has a digital camera in it, hence the poor quality. My opologies. If you have questions, ask...
The idea behind this is a very modern art like design using very few angles and very many curves. I want to seperate and--at the same time--connect numerous structures so as to allow for the mentality of both a seperate work environment as well as a conjoined team structure, while at the same time trying to produce something esteticly pleasing to the eye.
If nothing else, it's an inside-out/upside-down quatropus.
What do you think????

Holy gyroscoptic helicopters, Batman! It amazes me at the different takes everyone is having so far in the contest, it is great to see entries with concepts I haven't really thought of yet, or never would have for that matter. Great to see creativity at work.
I have to tell you I was mentally designing an entry in my head while trying to fall asleep last night and I had created an image that had long elegant flying butresses coming out of one side with an elegant tall structure as the central piece. Your legs kind of remind me of the image I was creating in my head! LOL
Good luck with it and be sure to share your progress!

I think I see where TheAllusionist's "insomniactic vision" relates to this concept sketch. Flowing forms leading the eye to the focal point may be a stronger image than flowing into a structural central point, unless your concept is about celebrating structure. If the legs pulled out farther from the main structure and the top horizontal/flat spot was extended and the form of the leg on that increased top/flat spot finned up to guide the eye to some sort of elegant tower or visual nexus I think the piece would become even stronger. In addition, the sphere could perhaps become more elongated like an egg or elipse to give it a more elegant appearance. This of course is just one scenario, I am sure you have something in mind that will be very aesthetically pleasing, I am just giving some input which may be of no value. Nice concept.
