Michael Perry - Energy Conscious-Sketch+Wireframe1
Here it is. It is a High-Tech apertment complex. It includes all shopping luxuries in the larger portion and comfortable living in the four wings. Don't let the drawing fool you. The center section is 400' in diameter. This complex will be constructed by the ocean so it can get its own water supply thanks to the underground desalination plant. There will also be a wind farm near by to provide electricity...another benefit of being so close to the water.

P.S. I think I messed up on the attachment. This should work.

I posted this to your original post, I see you figured it out by the time I had submited my response. I deleted your other post since this one had the attachment.
"Sounds good, you can attach your image by selecting the "Add an Attachment" button above the 'Preview' & 'Submit' buttons in the normal post option, not there in the quick reply. You then use the 'Browse' button to find the image on your computer and if it meets the requirements of 800x600 and under 124,000, it will upload into your post. Let me know if you need further assistance. In addition please edit your first post 'Subject' to follow the contest guidelines "Name - Project title" so we can easily recognize your thread. Thanks for participating, we look forward to seeing your concept and entry progress! "
Please make sure to adjust the 'Subject' text to the proper naming convention. Welcome aboard, looks like you have a whopper there.

Max40,
You are almost there with the naming convention, you need it to be your actual name and then the title "John Doe - Energy Conscious", refer to the other entries to get an idea of what I am talking about. Thanks in advance.
A "Green" Structure (environmentally friendly) is a responsible concept, look forward to seeing where it goes.

That is a really cool idea, a very independent structure, I just wanted to say that with the ocean near by you can also draw your power from it, and it would be more appealing to the eye than wind mills. Just an idea.

Hydroelectric Power! Good Idea. I didn't even think of that. Not only is that a good Idea, but it would save me time on modeling and rendering all those windmills. Thanks for the input.

Yes, and if you have a warm water source you can use a heatpump system to extract heat from the ground water! A fully self sufficient structure would be pretty cool! Nice entry so far.

Take a look at the architectural projects of Abalos and Herreros which is a Spanish firm that deals with ecology and sustainability. Even thout their projects are not as complex and sustainable as yours, they have an aethetic that very well reflects that.
I think that you should be very carefull in reflecting all your ideas in the aesthetics of the piece. If I may suggest, It cane be achieved by integrating those sustainable elements seamlessly with the architecture wich may prove more difficult than it sounds.
Anyway, good entry, lots of potential... if done right.
Looking forward for this one...
ddelcast,
I love having some contestants here that are active and up do date in the current architectural design world. The theoretical discussion and reference to the work of architects is great. I haven't worked in strong design oreinted firm for a couple years and am out of the loop, so it is great to hear reference's so that I can check them out. I think this link is to the architects Inaki Abalos & Juan Herreros for which ddelcast refers to:
By your examples I can see the direction your aesthetic and theoretical preferences lean to and can definetly see it in your entry so far. I would love for an on going theoretical discussion to start up somewhere on the site where theory, design approaches, etc. are discussed and links to examples and architects listed to fuel the discussion, let me know if anyone is interested and I will find a place for it.
Max40,
Good luck in this responsible concept idea, it will be interesting to see how you get your idea across in your design. I imagine your concept will focus on the macro concept of a 'green building' and not the micro elements found in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system, but I will provide a link to the organization, perhaps some ideas can be found there:
Don't let all this theoretical and technical information throw you off, pursue your design intente as you envisioned it, this information is just provided to possibly help you, not innodate you overwhelming technical information.
