Running with a "classic" form/s structure and apply more modern techniques to solve structural & design issues using modern materials. Underlying theme is polar to museums being the modern Cathedral. Musems albiet intellectually stimulating seem to lack the some of the emotional connections to the function, similar to that of a cathedral. MY personal emotionally biased opinion!
Will have to see were this concept ends up, ?
A very basic concept sketch...

Welcome to the contest! I see lots of positive possibilities with the gothic flavoring. I actually thought that if we saw gothic, it may be a dark subject matter theme, this should be cool. Look forward to seeing where it goes!

you defintly got the Cathedral look in your design. Looks nice, do you have a sketch where the whole structure is visiable.
Nothing complete yet. Working on incorporating flying buttresses to, at least, visually support the hieght and some play with the large arc/s theme oriented towards a vertical rythm.
Would say it's just about time for a detialed sketch / or form model to start pinning elements down. Hopefully in a couple days depending on work.

A little off topic, but I was sad to hear that Faye Jones passed away. He had some really nice chapels made of timber and glass set in wooded areas, a nice abstraction of the cathedral form expressed a a different medium. Just thought it was somewhat relative since he was playing with a similar form to what you are playing with.

Yes, it's sad to see some with an elegant mastery of form and rythm pass away.
You know I did'nt even think about any of his work specifically or visual memory type influence. Similar approach- would have to say your correct. Even to the extent of considering the openess of his designs at the human level. My design being oriented to specific religoius constriants and traditions are making that a bit difficult. Another problem being do you allow day dreaming out the windows or for a lack of anything else to do catch a nap in the shadows of a wall? hehehehe.
In all seriousness though, there is a fair amount of tradition and practice that typically and rightfully should be on the walls / human level. It works to both serve specific parts of the religion and movement through the space as they are sequential. Imho removing or hiding these elements would be like editing "the Passion" to make it rated G.
Well back to face modeling the roof/s- it's a long story Solids, meshes... in formZ, max, C4d are all creating very high polycounts and some sloppy booleans. So Acad has the best control, for me at this time, to set it up and model. I'll post a quick render tommorrow, maybe someone can point me in a different direction.
