"Architectural Wonder" ContestContest Thread for Contest Entries. Post entries as per Contest Rules Here. Contest closed to further Entries.
Looking at a lot of forms and concepts of entries and architecture in general, I must admit I think Caltrava is having a huge impact on our ideas of forms and implied motion, even if we are unaware of it. This is not saying anyone is using his projects and mimicing them, I am saying our perception of what is achievable and is aesthetically pleasing has changed over the last decade or so. I also think it is a good thing and architecture is getting exciting again. I am sure others will have a list of other great architects and in fact I would love to see the list, I always like revisiting work with someone elses impression in my mind and perhaps see it in a different light. In fact that kind of dialogue is what I hoped would happen at this site. And yes there are many architects that have pushed boundries and established what I will call ground rules for current designs, Caltrava seems to pop to mind as of late. I have always thought of his work as almost sculptural and am looking at it differently lately.
A little off topic, but as I revisit the entries I am struck by a lot of the forms, I am pleasantly surprised, the entries are not exactly what I expected and find the concepts refreshing.
