Hey guys.......I am back to this forum after a decade..or so..... .

Nice topic. Last time i had registered for the AW-I competetion...but cud'nt give time for it..

So this time i am prepared.....to let my concept see the lights of Raytrace..elements....

Okay here goes my Concept....

My architectural Monument would be a combination of massive towers....made with a blend of traditional and cutting edge building materials.

Each section of the towers would be dedicated to one of the five elements.

This would be a Public structure...like a Musuem.....But a set of Vertical Towers.


Will be submitting a rough concept sketch soon.

Comments and critics on the topic would be hugely appreciated.

Hello Forum members ..I am back with my Concept Sketches.

As you can see , after a lot of tweaking with the idea, i came up with 4 towers on a podium/island. Yes it would be located in the middle of an artificial lake. Let me describe the sketches in detail.

The 4 towers you see would represent the elements of :-

Fire:- The tallest of the tower. Will be made of translucent yellow/orange/red glass with steel framing. The top of this tower will have a huge flaming torch. which will be kept ignited with a self sufficient mechanism of hydrogen/o2 generated from the lake water. Few floors inside would have a museum exhibit, displaying the various uses of Fire in our day 2 day life.


Air:- The second tallest tower amongst the combination of towers. This will have a network of shafts and flus. The idea being, when the wind wizzes thru these tubes it create an acoustic sound ....just like the rhymes of the organ pipes. The tower will be sky-blue/white color aluminum claded structure. Few floors inside would have a museum exhibit, displaying the various uses of Air in our day 2 day life.

Water:- The third of the Tower Structure. It will have a huge waterfall cascading above a transparent glazed facade along two sides. The terrace will have interesting fountains which would synchronise with the rhythm of the sound generated by the Air- tower. Few floors inside would have a museum exhibit, displaying the various uses of Water in our day 2 day life.

Earth:- The last of the Elemental Tower. This would constitute of earthen materials like rocks/ wood/ composition like sedimentary rock formation. This would also act like an artificial mountain for adventure enthusiasts to scale. Few floors inside would have a museum exhibit, displaying the various forms of Earth materials in our day 2 day life.

Space:- This being the 5th Element would be centrally placed amongst the tower. It would act as an observation deck, which would be supported from the 4 surrounding towers. Detail of this will soon follow with second lots of sketches.

This combination of 4 towers would be located on an artificial island, on a calm lake. the visitors have to either go there via a boat/ferry service, or by rental chopper services.

I hope i have described my concept in detail. Will be starting with the details of individual towers . will be posting more sketches and W.I.P models as well.

Sundeep, awesome conepts and sketchs, man!!! very powerful vision you got for your entry. you have to be careful in accomplishing it properly in 3d, that'll be your challenge. i am sure, you can make that quite easily. yes, we would be looking forward for updates... best of luck from me

okay nice concept ... i like it ... but just out off curiousity ...and for my information ...where are the classical forms or spaces,which the contest assignment lays out ..... the building that you have sketched out would make it as a nice architectural wonder... but i was just wondering where the classical part fits in ..

Hello Kippu. !! I think you took the thought/copy of the intro to the Contest too Seriously.

It says in the Scene: :-

“Architectural Wonder”: You are standing on a vantage point overlooking the most impressive example of architecture you have ever seen. The aesthetics seem to speak to you and you have to wonder about those who created such an impressive masterpiece. The forms and spatial hierarchy seem classical, alluding to some great historical wonder of the world, yet the materials and construction techniques seem to be appropriate to the 21st century.

However in the Assignment: -

Digitally create in 3D an “Architectural Wonder” that portrays that which is inspirational about architecture and touches us on some subconscious level. You may abstract an existing architectural marvel, but not duplicate it, and digitally construct it using contemporary materials and construction techniques. You may use your imagination and create what you think is an architectural marvel, and create something completely new and unique. Whichever path you choose to take, the architecture alluded to must be constructible with today’s technology and be inhabitable/occupied/populated by humans, such as in one of the following building type examples: a residence, a place of business, a medical facility, an educational institution, a place of worship, a palace, or a seat of government.
The final image should be a wonder to behold, while being in character with the practice of architectural visualization and represent up to date construction techniques and materials.
