Firstly I want to say hi as this is my first post here

Secondly I want to just get my entry thread setup ready for my sketches.

My idea is for a very eco-friendly building/centre as I work in architectural visualisation & I hate seeing all the nice landscapes being destroyed & replaced with ugly concrete....to quote Howie's," buy land, they don't make it anymore".

I'm thinking of a large complex based on various current designs but with original buildings & landscaping. Each element should enhance the surroundings & be as self-sufficent as possible....wind power, solar power, water power, termite style ventilation systems, renewable building materials, also I thought that the complex should be open to the public to encourage awareness of the environment & the damage that is being caused to it.

ok, here's my initial sketches...I'm not too great with a pencil but it has helped me to come up with a few ideas that I would probably not have if I jumped straight into modelling.

The original idea when I started sketching was to get something like a termite mound or traditional hut that could draw air through the building from bottom to top. I ended up with something similar in shape to the "girkin" building in London....

....anyway, I'm looking to use more natural materials & it will be a little more squat so I'm hoping that it will not be quite so similar when I've finished.

I had the idea quite early on to have water running under the building(s) which would keep the air cool as it is drawn up through the centre & it could also be used by a wheel to power the building.

For some reason I began playing with the idea of solar panels splayed out like leaves...originally in a random fashion, then more like a palm tree. I'm not sure about this idea...it could work but I'm concerned that it might look too rediculous.

anyway....most of the things that I need to work out will be much easier in 3d so, when I get a chance, I'll load up Lightwave & play with some more ideas.

Great, you got that milesone out of the way, now for some modeling, sook forward to seeing the organic form take shape!
