My concept is a research city above the forest canopy which would be on a series of pylons. The purpose of this small city is to provide a living and working environment for a few thousand people. Those people would be biologists, chemists, environmental scientists, researchers, support staff and their families.
The idea is that it's a self sustained city with mixed uses (labs, office space, residential, retail, entertainment, recreation, hospital, education), basically everything people would need for a prolonged stay.
The city would be a series of long thin wings supported on pylons and towers with a small footprint on the forest floor. There would be research pods at the canopy level to observe and study several butterfly species that are only found at the tree tops. There would be research pods near the lower branches to observe the primates and other wild life. The city would be located near a river which would provide fresh water. There is an enclosed bridge that is used for access to the city and also for service vehicles. The idea is that the city would not contribute any noise polution to the outside environment.
Here is a preliminary plan sketch and perspective. The intent is to make the complex integrated by the design of the structural elements.
