Brian Cassil - The Megapolis Pillar

I hope this is in time. My schedule unexpectedly opened up a bit and I've always wanted to do a big urban tower so I thought I'd throw my hat into the ring. My visions of this is that this is not only the center beacon to a large city but rather the center beacon to an entire region or even nation. I'd like to illustrate this as a shining tower rising monolithically from the chaos of the urban streets. My sketch doesn't really portray quite what I wan't to do, I'm just getting something in to beat the entry deadline (I think?). I can see there are quite a few doing tall buildings but that's OK.

That's all I need... pressure! Of course my schedule could get tight just as fast as it got loose and I won't finish at all but I really hope to be able to do this.

BTW, I see some familiar faces around. Hi everyone!

Hey, I could have used a term like fantastic or incredible! Besides, I used 'good' in the 'good luck' statement, I didn't want to re-use the same word, even if it put pressure on you. Anyway, good luck, I am sure you will do a mediocre job!

Re: Brian Cassil - The Megapolis Pillar

Here's a simple scene blocking. I think I'm pretty happy with it. I've debated whether I should show the base of the hero building or not. But I think this supports my original concept better, having a mass of chaos at the street level with lots of color and activity, and then have the "pillar" rising out of the midst of that with a monochromatic scheme and lots of light streaming out of it.
