AutoCADAutoDesk AutoCAD & Architectural Desktop specific
The CAD industry giant is AutoDesk's AutoCAD, it has the majority of the market. It's biggest competitor in the begining (Bentley MicroStation) decided to back Linux in the early years and when DOS won out for the most part as the defacto operating system AutoCAD devoured the market.
AutoDesk bought out Revit as not to compete with them, the way they have handled the situation may be similar to how they will handle the Alias Maya take over, parallel developement but rumors have it the two programs will eventually merge into one keeping the best features of each.

Thanks Brian, not sure I knew about that one unless it is the one that 'Point A' use to link to, too many websites, too little time Now we need to figure out how to get more CAD and architectural people around here.

AUGI has the best Revit people in it, the majority of those that participated at Autodesk University as instructors participate there as well as a couple of the original developers of the software (before Autodesk bought it out). For other topics, the Autodesk Forums are great, many of the developers from Autodesk patrol those groups. Combined, they are the two best Autodesk resources.
Getting people in here can be done. Let me see over the next few days who I would like to contact and introduce to this forum. I can't guarantee anything, but I know a few people that would definately be interested.

Sounds great, I just don't have the time to establish a prescence at the Autodesk sites, they are a great resource and like I said, I have been a member for a while at AUGI, etc. but only lurk when I am searching for some information. Short term memory on commands I use once a year or something, so popping over there and doing a quick search usually leads me to the answer pretty quickly. Great places for the CAD user
Thanks for the offer of ambasodorial role!
