Hi from VA
I'm Fran Davey from Virginia. I have a little company called Surreal Structures and I specialize in interior still rendering.
Right now I am working on a small lobby of a 1930's Art Deco apartment building in NYC. The residents are interested in reversing a very bad 1980's remodel job that nobody in the building likes. My task is to try to represent the lobby as it was originally designed, using whatever archive documents the clients can find. I will post some renders after the dust settles. Congrats to the winners of the Livingroom II contest. The honors are well-deserved!

Welcome aboard Fran! I believe this is 'Fran' from our friends and CG Architect? If so I have enjoyed your post over there over the years and am glad you poked your head in over here. We look forward to seeing your work and comments whether or not you are the "Fran" I am thinking of! LOL

Welcome Fran! Of course, I am also familiar with Surreal Structures. As a matter of fact, your work inspired me to become serious, improve my skills and there were specific images that I dissected for months which really helped me to make some steps forward (interior shots that came as sampes with max 6)
Anyway, welcome and glad that we have you here... Hope you share some of your recent work with us...

Horhe, congrats on your placing in the contest. Very nice work. d.sign, I'm honored that you were able to learn from my work. That means a lot to me. I've looked at the excellent work in your gallery. Rod, I live in Gloucester but grew up in Newport News. Here is a wip of one corner of the lobby I'm working on. It may seem a little dark at this point. The lobby was meant to have "intimate" lighting and I'm resisting the urge to tweak the exposure settings too much.

Nice start Fran... not too dark, but the window calls up for some glow and rest could have a bit more contrast...
