Hello all. I fiqured I would share my personal infor with you. Much of it is repeeated from other topics, but here goes. My name is Jason Matthews. I grew up in Palm Bay, Florida. I had a great drafting and design professor in high school that helped me pick a career in architecture. I went to community college for my general AA degree and then transfered to University of Florida where I started in freshman architecture (1999). I did my undergrad where I met John Maze, a new faculty member who was brought in to teach digital media in the college. This is where I picked up my fascination with rendering and digital media. From there I finished my undergrad and did my lasy project all in the comuter (trial for future semesters). That went really well, so I decided to do as much digital stuff as I could. I got into grad school at University of Florida and started teaching digital media with Prof. Maze and helped change the attitude of the faculty about digital media. It is now pretty widely accepted at UF, but there are some nonbelievers still. I joined cgarchitect.com during my first semester in grad school, and the forum was great for that kind of stuff. I then figured that I would join some other forums to lend advise and to get advise as well. I found 3DAllusions by a fellow member of cgarchitect and the rest is history.
I just finished my thesis project and I landed an awesome job at Rink Design Partnership in Jax. (
www.rinkdesign.com) I am getting married in July to a great girl and really starting my life off with a bang. I love digital media and doing renderings and I think it is a very important tool that when used correctly allows us as architects communicate better with clients.
And finally, some fun facts. You will notice that my screen name is CivicDuty and I am also known as Saturn on cgarchitect.com. My screen names are taken from the tyoe of car I drive. I used to have a 92 saturn sl1 and now I have a 99 civic.
And lastly, I am starting my own rendering company with just myself right now called
www.JDMVIZ.com. The website isn't much right now but I feel that people can easily look at my work and get an idea of what I can do. Of course the more I do the more the portfolio grows.
Thanks for reading guys. Any comments would be great. If not, I'll just file it under "Forums with No Response." Just Kidding!
