Re: Fruit Bowl

Neil, I like it so much, expecially the apple.
I think the dish needs to be more reflective because of the glaze.

IMHO, on the lightning I like to have warm and soft, even the shadows more soft.

Great work dude!

Re: Fruit Bowl

thats good going neil....
i do agree with speedline, on a more reflective plate. i would personaly have it more towards white in color, but thats a personal opinion.
a lil tweaking for that dark grape at the left, it wont stay on that slope like this.

again, its nicely done...all the best....

Re: Fruit Bowl

First off real good work. The apple could use some specular, but to me the orange needs more work, the color seems just a bit off and it could use more specular, but the rest of the fruit is fantastic. I agree that the plate color and even the cloth is muting the image a bit, might reconsider them, but like I said the fruit is looking great!

Yes I also agree with you people about the plate and cloth material. I will change and show the update very soon and yes the colour of the orange have to modify bit.

Re: Fruit Bowl

I think the banana looks great, as do the grapes, but the grapes and cherries could use some SSS. IMO specular is wrong for the apple, it looks as though someone has just polished it before eating and not as it would in a bowl. Muted blurry reflections would possibly be more realistic, though this will increase render times. Don't overdo the samples too much though as the grainy look will simulate the slight bumpiness of apple skin.
For the orange I think that using the bump map to tone the spec/reflections in the pits/troughs, maybe even the colour as well, would be the right way to go.
Fantastic work, can't wait to see it finished .
