CG Artwork - Digital Showcase2D & 3D computer graphic images that don't fit within the other catagories. FINAL
This image I did in August. Since then I was very busy and almost forgot on this image. I was inspired with those big ships that carries big burrels over the seas. There are several tasks that I wanted to do working on this image. I wanted to practice texturing and UVW unwrap in Max, V ray sun and sky, rusted metal surface...
Maybe I was a bit bored of clean and perfect spaces in arch visualizations
I'm still not sure about the gloss effect. There are lot of reference pictures i studied about burrels and there is a pretty glossy surface.
I know your c&c would help.
Thank you in advance.
Very realistic! Great play with shadow... I would suggest the shot of a bigger composition, some sort of big wall of barrels... that may be interesting...
Thanks d.sign! Yes that will be interesting, the wall of burrels... Well, I've already set them in the scene in a such formation, like a wall of burrels. I will try to make scene like that, I'm courious about that too. But in that case I have to work more on textures, to avoid repetition. But it wouldn't be problem...
If I make such wall I know I would hardly resist to make a Hollywood like explosion of burrels, flying in the air...
dynamic simulation+exploding particles..............with lot of fire....i'm just kidding.
Nice exercise in texturing, I like them. Personally I think if you took the third one as a base and overlaid the second one with opacity of 30% ?(not certain how much, you should go with what you like, I did it with 30%) it would give you a rustic look without as much flat paint look and not so much gloss. Just a personal preference. Greeat work!

Great work of texturing! Agree with Russell, the version he's done looks more realistic. It would be interesting to see them animated, perhaps a small explosion blasting off one of the barrels and remaining falling down and scattering on the ground. Once again, great work

Very nice work indeed. I love the texturing. Bit more variation like Burrels in an anbiance would be more interesting.

Thanks Neha and Neil. I used the same texture but made colour variations in photoshop. The most interesting part here was texture painting in photoshop. I used a photo as rust layer and painted primer, paint and dirt over the photo of rust. I'm looking for a bit free time to continue with more variations and short animation. I'd like to practice reactor and particles.
