In the lighting tutorials that I have read over the years, backlighting is mentioned a lot for characters and dark scenes to pop the subject out a little from the background. It is a nice effect, I tend to forget about it since I tend to do exterior daylight scenes.
Mesh is looking better and better all the time.

did a few renders yesturday, but no dark scene... dark scenes really aren't all that good for wips I think.
Some of the edges above the navel were brought down, and I continued a line of edges around to the spine for the waist. Face count so far is 7555 n tho I was almost finished laying out the uv's, I want to add a lil more to the topology so it'll have to be remapped again. N used a tweaked blinn shader for the renders.. for some reason when I try using the misss fast skin shader n also a blinn to define the lips she renders black.

Looking at her more, it does look like maybe the feet are a little small, just a comment on a nice model, but I thought I would toss that out. Since I am a leg man, more shapely legs would put her over the top in my mind. Not trying to make her my ideal woman my friend just giving feed back, like I said, great model!

nice looking model. yes, I agree with Russell. The feet are too small to support the entire body weight and balance. legs and hand are looking a bit skinny. still a great model as said above.

yup, I completely agree about the legs.. had noticed the legs needed a little more attention (especially the knees) after I had gotten rid of the mirrored duplicate. But it still shouldn't be too hard to tweak with her being a whole object. I wasn't sure about the feet, I kept going back n forth on it... I'll try to scale them n try to thicken the hands.
Animating her would be interesting. As part of the character setup tutorial I keyframed the skeleton leg (b4 smooth binding) n playing the animation, was pretty kewl.
