it's been waaay too long since I've been here. Anyway I'm in with this one and I hope I can find the time to complete this one, unlike my entry in the dreamhouse contest.
Here's some images. I've tried to create a more dramatic look by tilting the camera. I've also modified the large windows as the are now doors blown open by a strong autumn wind. The curtains are manually modelled since I don't know enough yet about the cloth module in Maya. I'm also thinking of adding some leafs blowing in and perhaps a chandelier above the table. I also have to make some textures for the furniture, these are all still standard lambert materials. Tell me what you think!

remco_t, since I also use Maya, could you tell me what material you used for the curtains? I can never get that nice transparency without making it look like plastic.

Hi Silvia,
below are the settings for the curtains that I used. For transparancy I connected a multiplier node in the Hypershade between the texture and the transparency value to give the photons that pass trough the same colour the curtains have while still being able to control the transparency of the curtains.
I hope this will be helpfull to you

remco t,
Nice slant (pardon the pun) on the challenge, I like the fact you are adding dynamics (visual not physical simulation) to the scene, very cool!
