Charrette #4 - Christmass/New Year challenge - rendering and texturing a living room

Please refer to post #360 for the winners:
    http://www.3dallusions.com/forums/sh...6570#post16570

    Hi everyone,
I would like to start a challenge for this holydays and after. I hope that you will find time and interest to participate.
This is my afternoon scene - simple living room but with potential to experiment with light setups and different moods...
Here you can download MAX 7 raw scene and .3ds file. I would ask Russel and who ever can help with converting it properly in .obj file and eventualy .lwo scene. Perhaps new conversion in .3ds won't hurt...
Second, this scene, completely textured and with light setup for Vray render, as seen on the preview, will be added to this comunitty data base and will be available for download when new site comes up (we all hope soon). You are free to use models and textures from this scene any way you want...

    Rules and criteria:
    1. You can use any software you like and any type of light setup. You can change time of day, make a night scene, change a mood, whatever you like. Geometry of the scene can be changed regarding detailes. You can add or remove detailes like pictures, lamps, even coffe tables. You can add perhaps an armchair in different view (under the lamp behind this camera).
However, main structure and composition should remain, so we can compare results. Do not change sofa, chairs and poufs. Also, do not change geometry of the space/room unless you repair some eventual damages.
    2. Submission should contain two images, one with camera position same or simmilar to original (for comparation) and other free as you like.
    3. Deadline will be discussed later, it is not so important now. Important is to attract as many participants as possible and gain many great images
    4. Awards - I will discuss it with Administrator, I will probably donate some furniture models for winners...

I would also like to take this oportunity to wish everyone very Happy Holydays and all the best in next year -
"May God's blessing keep you always
may your wishes all come true..."

Admin Note: All credit for the model should go to Branko a.k.a. 'd.sign' when posting images using the model off site.

Admin Note: The scene remains the property of the original artist and credit to the original artist must be included with any rendered output posted outside the site. In addition the original artist and 3DAllusions for the purpose of the challenge are the only parties authorized to distribute said material without the consent of the original artist. If you do not agree to these terms do not download the afore mentioned material.

So let us start, here is the original scene's preview and different format files (Additional ones in third post)

Most gracious of you 'd.sign, I will do some conversions later today to get more format options up. I am sure we can up up with some prize even if it isn't a big one, like you said the main thing is for community participation and sharing ideas and techniques! Good luck everyone!

P.S. I converted to XSI & OBJ format, let us know if you have a problem. When I went to export to LWS format, I got a bunch of LWO files, so maybe someone in the community can share a LightWave version if they get it. If none of these versions work for a member let us know and we will see if we can't get a format that will work for you

    Hey, guys thanks.
Da_Rock, yes sure you can fit your tree... There is a room to change detailes, esspecially if you set another camera angle, cause room got some more ambients and there is a place for an armchair under the lamp on the other side of the room ( not visible in this camera view). Perhaps I will send armchair model latter on...

General help
The MGC Chatbox Evo is really easy to use

You can :
  1. Send chats : you just have to enter the text in the dedicated input field and then to validate it by pushing the return key ou by clicking on the OK button.
  2. Format the chats :
  3. once you un-collapse the chatbox formatting toolbar by clicking on the BBCode button, you have access to different formatting options for your chats. You can format a chat by selecting a part (or the totality) of it and then select one of the buttons/list. You can also add empty formatting tags by selecting nothing and clicking one of the buttons/menu thus allowing you to add the chat text afterwards between these tags.*
  4. Access to the different channels : you can have access to different channels restricted to only some usergroupds or for specifics use of the chatbox. The different channels are accessible from the buttons on the left of the chatbox.*
  5. Edit your chats (or others chats) : the edition of a chat can be done by a simple double-click on it.*
  6. Use specific commands : some commands can be accessible in the chatbox depending on the will of the administrator(s) of your forum. These commands let you execute specific actions of formatting, management, etc... You will herebelow the information on the command which are accessible to you. You must notice that you are not forced to use the command prefixes (/command_name) when you use them in the channel they are attached to (except in the general channel).*
* : Depending on the settings chosen by the administrator(s) of the forum, you might not have access to all these features.
