    Charrette #6 - Kitchen challenge

Ok people, I know that the contest is just behind us, but we will not let you rest, so here is another little challenge. This is kind of continuing our interior challenge serie, after the dinning room and living room challenge we have now kitchen for you.
It is simple and minimalistic model, but we hope you will find it inspiring for light and material tests.
    Rules and criteria:
    1. The basic shape of the room should remain the same. You can change materials as you like.
    2. The basic elements distribution (island, storage main line) should remain the same. You are allowed to change material of the ellements, handles, material, type, number and position of doors/drawers/fronts, change light fixtures type and position and so on...
    3. POV/camera angle - one image should be submited that is same or as close as possible to refference renders, for the sace of comparation. Other images can be with POV by your choice
    4. Deadline for the challenge would be disscussed latter, but it should be within the 1-2 months.
    5. the awards will be disscussed latter also, but should be some of the content that wwe will prepare for you, models or textures or simillar... and probably some surprise...

    Prizes:
    First Prize Winner:
Furniture model set - tulip chairs and table by Saarinen. You can see below how it looks like.

    RTsquare 1.3 - GPU tech

    First and second Runner ups:
RTsquare 1.3 - GPU tech, one copy each

    Admin Notes:

1.) All credit for the model should go to Branko Jovanovic a.k.a. 'd.sign' when posting images using the model off site.

2.) The scene remains the property of the original artist and credit to the original artist must be included with any rendered output posted outside the site. In addition the original artist and 3DAllusions for the purpose of the challenge are the only parties authorized to distribute said material without the consent of the original artist. If you do not agree to these terms do not download the afore mentioned material.

That is for now. Different formats will be put up soon.
Here is the raw max 8 scene and max 8 scene with Vray materials
Here you have the textures used for refference renders as well as some refference images.
We hope you will enjoy this challenge too.
And there will be more after this!

Note: The following link is to a DXF version from the DWG file, it is the most compatible format we could provide and is over 3 megs so it couldn't be attached. From the inside of the room I believe all the normals are correct, from the outside it may appear as if some of the walls are missing. This is the best sollution we could come up with to resolve the problems some people are having with the model. Lets give this a try

Director_Bob was nice enough to do a conversion to SketchUp and clean it up, the link is here:

Here are some refference images, just to get the picture. It is by all means expected to depart from this completely and give creative interpretation of the theme.

    Re: Kitchen challenge

    Branko,

This challenge is really appreciated. I certainly will join in this one, like I did once with YOUR livingroom.

Only......... I'm not a MAX user. Would it be possible to post some other formats? 3DS, DXF......MCD ...SKP?

    Re: Kitchen challenge

One more note - aspect ratio of the refference images is not a standard one.
For horizontal oriented image it is 1,5 and for vertical is 0,87.
That is not strict for participants, just a guide that could be usefull. Would also make easier to compare images...

General help
The MGC Chatbox Evo is really easy to use

You can :
  1. Send chats : you just have to enter the text in the dedicated input field and then to validate it by pushing the return key ou by clicking on the OK button.
  2. Format the chats :
  3. once you un-collapse the chatbox formatting toolbar by clicking on the BBCode button, you have access to different formatting options for your chats. You can format a chat by selecting a part (or the totality) of it and then select one of the buttons/list. You can also add empty formatting tags by selecting nothing and clicking one of the buttons/menu thus allowing you to add the chat text afterwards between these tags.*
  4. Access to the different channels : you can have access to different channels restricted to only some usergroupds or for specifics use of the chatbox. The different channels are accessible from the buttons on the left of the chatbox.*
  5. Edit your chats (or others chats) : the edition of a chat can be done by a simple double-click on it.*
  6. Use specific commands : some commands can be accessible in the chatbox depending on the will of the administrator(s) of your forum. These commands let you execute specific actions of formatting, management, etc... You will herebelow the information on the command which are accessible to you. You must notice that you are not forced to use the command prefixes (/command_name) when you use them in the channel they are attached to (except in the general channel).*
* : Depending on the settings chosen by the administrator(s) of the forum, you might not have access to all these features.
