So just a work in progress shot. I've tryed to match the view in the photo. Not liking the wood texture at the moment. Need some planks that dont have so many joints in them!
Also theres a very sharp line in the model which is causing a bit of an eye sore!
good to have you on the forum rhys, good start, have you considered doing your planks as geometry, using chamfering edges? just an idea that sprung into my head..

Marla, great start! I love your second shot, very nice composition... first shot may need a bit more tweaking of camera angle and a bit less reflection on the window frames...
Innerdream, interesting interpretation of the house, I kind of liked your first shot with darker water a bit more...
