Pradipta,
I was looking forward to working on the interior this weekend. When I opened the .max file in VIZ4 I got the error messages that I have attached.
It looks like a Mental Ray material and Light Tracer .dll's are needed.
Any comments? Anybody else have trouble opening the .max file?

Hello, first off i want to thank you guys for putting this together cause i hope to improve my skills with mental ray. I am fairly new to CG and have been trying mental ray for about 4 months but not till the past month have i tried to learn GI and FG. I have attached a .jpg showing my rendering with GI and FG settings showing also i have my main area light selected showing the settings. I have 2 area lights in this scene one in the window and the main one that is selected showing the settings.
Question is it necessary to still have a main spotlight to act as the sun?? I feel like the last month i've improved quite a bit, but i know theres some more to go to get the final image. Anyone please have a look at my setup and let me know if theres anything i can do to brighten up the scene more.
Thanks again for this oppertunity to share my files and have your comments.

Dan,
When I opened the file in VIZ 2005 I get the LightTrace item, but just chose open and the scene opens. Tonight I will look at the file some more, it is a format older than Viz 2005, so I would think it would work fine in Viz 4?

arquiteck09, nice to see your interest in the challemge. we just made some chages in the challenge rule. only favourite entries are needed to be submitted to the community along with full textures at the end of the challenge.
would like to see your entry,
best wishes

atom, nice to see your working with MR, a great renderer to work with. but, needs lots of tweaking. the setting looks ok for test rendering. you need to increase the energy of the light.
yes, it addes more realism if you add a spot light. although it's personal views. but, i prefer addding it.
thanks for coming forward to make this challenge sucessful,

Is there a purge command in VIZ/Max that I can run and then perhaps save the file in an older format for the community members that have an older version? I am new to Viz so I don't know all the commands, the file opens up fine for me, with just the error message that I ignore, if others are having trouble maybe purging the file will work. If not you can download the 3DS file and use that
