"Dream House" ContestDesign Your "Dream House" Contest
Hi
My name is Mark Smith. I'm from Pinetown, (Durban) South Africa and here is the sketch for my competition entry.
Excuse the scruffiness - I had 2 hours to do this so had to rush the planning, sketching, etc. The house is suppose to be visually attractive, when rendered, and it epitomises an integration between building, water and air. The large windows reflect the sky, and the water reflects the building. There are numerous viewing areas, where people can enjoy the waterfalls, fountains (which are inside the building), and the rivers/ponds. On top of the house is either a garden or a tennis court - still deciding which. Stairs lead to the top of the left and right towers.
I haven't used my 3D software for a few months, so I might battle converting this. I use Cinema 9 and Max 4, although very rusty with Max - trying to work out how to extrude the front path and make it sloped like a golfing green. Just can't figure it out - Cinema it's real easy but it renders triangles on the capped areas.
I'm entering this competition because I would really like to win the Vue D'Esprit software also I like architecture a lot. My other interests are jets & flying, gadgets, interface/software/web design and development, digital natural media art and reading. I'm trying to read a book a night. So far so good.

Welcome Mark!! Good concept, now we want to see some modeling and don't worry about not putting your hands on a 3D package for some time, were are here to help each other!!
Look forward to seeing the evolution of your project.
Thanks for the welcome
I guess I'll have to motor in order to meet the deadlines - will probably construct a section each day, and post a bit at a time.

Yip. A friend of mine said his friend had that routine - so I was curious whether I could do it as well. Tonight I'm reading War of the Worlds, while I'm wading through Clinton's "My Life".

Durban has a really nice climate, but this year has been kinda wierd. It's the middle of Winter and it hasn't started yet. Two nights ago we had warm berg winds, and it's quite warm today, just like summer, although the humidity isn't too bad.
