Beijing Stadium - An inspiring work of a Pritzker Architecture Price Recipient
"A building is a building. It cannot be read like a book; it doesn't have any credits, subtitles or labels like picture in a gallery. In that sense, we are absolutely anti-representational. The strength of our buildings is the immediate, visceral impact they have on a visitor."

Interesting project and great visualizations...
I think they captured something of a local spirit... at least in some angles... or the viz does that
I tend to disagree with the statement of Jacques Herzog about reading of architecture, but that is just my humble opinion...

Nice one Ronel. Thanks for sharing with us.
This is the real problem 540u1 and I am thinking the sollution. May be some extra lights they have to arrange for the main ground otherewise it will be a real problem for participants. Amount of shadow falling on the ground is very irritating for players and also for visitors.

and a few words on the project... anyone who's played any ball games will hate the movement into and out of the shadows, I imagine that the photo of the competions will be hard as well... one of those things that make you say hmmmmmm

I like it I actually have seen the images a couple of years ago, stylized and very nice.
Cybeo it actually looks a bit like a birds nest - hence the name yeah maybe reminds a little of the spaghetti too ha. Nice.

I like the visual impact this building makes, especially the night view, but the shadows on the field are major mistake IMO. Hopefully engineers will find the way to override this problem somehow, otherwise, the whole show will be pretty irritating during the daylight.
I am big soccer fan, and for good TV experience, sun/shadow on the field is a no, no...

I also like the stadium design. Now, before Olympic there are lots of program in Sports and News Channels. It is really great to see the stadium live. I like the swimming competition pool also.
Hey my favorite sport is soccer also . I am also very happy that Olympic, the greatest competition in the Earth will start very soon and it will remain for a month. So there will be something different in my daily lifestyle.

Does anyone know if it is actually completed when the picture was taken? I ask becuase most of the renderings show an obscured off white skin inside which also helps with the glow effect at night. I am just wondering if people are jumping the gun or if it is actually 100% completed when the picture was taken.
Neil is correct and the swimming facility is a marvel as well and lets not forget the new symphony house? you see a sphere coming out of a body of water and you enter through tunnels under the water.
