Re: When Construction Goes Real Bad

Yeah, they can build the waterpark instead...
But seriously, have you noticed the direction that arachitecture in Emirates, Dubai especially takes?
After Norman Foster-s hotel, The biggest architecturall-burocratic offices compete with each other who will build crazier building.
When I look at the World Architecture News, there is every week some insane proposition and some insane building already on the site.
I can not imagine the costs of such buildings, that is craziest aspect I think...
I do not ask myself how they build such structures, I began to ask only
WHY?

Re: When Construction Goes Real Bad

Yes, I agree Dubai and China are really growing fast and have big projects. Seems like Dubai is throwing money away. I look at it as a great chance for something great to happen, even if there are a bunch of strange projects, there has to be a gem or two in the bunch!

Re: When Construction Goes Real Bad

That’s Bad. Thanks for the info. Dubai Had A dry Dock door Collapse back in 2002. The hole was about the same size and it took ten minutes to fill the dry dock. I hope nobody got hurt at this project.

Re: When Construction Goes Real Bad

Yes definitely, I think the equipment operators were the only ones in the hole at the time, so atleast they had something to hang onto and climb as water filled the hole, lets hope nobody got hurt and the worst that happened is someone went for an afternoon swim.

Good to see you DB, missed you around here.

Re: When Construction Goes Real Bad

Hi Russell, I’m not a big fan of job site catastrophic failure. But it is nice to see the photos a ponder what went wrong. I would like to see photos of the see wall before the collapse?
The name on the Photo "Solt Imre" is a Managing Director MCONET Dubai I wonder how meany times he has been asked that question.
At least I think my info is correct.
