Rotten,
I had you in mind when I started this thread, I expected more from you! LOL I have Jeff at #9 and Joe Pass in my footnote, a lot of jazz guitarist should actually be up high on the list, but I don't listen to jazz so names don't jump out at me, I gave the ones I know of that impressed me mention.

I'm in the middle of a computer training conference so I can't be long winded at the moment. On a good note...it is much warmer here in San Diego than it is in calgary.

Re: Greatest Guitarist

Russell, nice to know about your family. With music you grew up, that is really great. Nice to know about your father. My father also used to sing. But not western. Totaly indian classical. But later situations forced him to stop. But there was a musical environment in my home. Once I use to play 'Tabla' for 8 years and I performed few local stages. I dont consider myself as a Guitarist. Playing few chords and tunes are not enough being a Guitarist . Still I am in learning stage. It is vast like an ocean. My facination or love with western music starts when I was 20 years of age. One of my friend helped me to understand and feel about the music. He used to play guitar well. Later I bought a guitar and started to learn by myself. But now from the teacher I am learning, he is really good. Actually here it is really hard to find good guitar teacher.

Re: Greatest Guitarist

My Dad played sax in a band for over 30 years. My brother played sax. I've played:

clarinet
sax
trmpet
flugel horn
french horn
baritone
guitar

Music is a way of life in my family.

My 9 year old daughter plays piano and my son will strt some instrument this year.

Re: Greatest Guitarist

Rotten,
It all makes sense now, I always knew you were full of hot air! Actually the sax is awesome, not enough of it in Rock. Trying to remember the 80's rock band with a female sax player. Of course there is the big guy Clarence with the E street band and then the long haired dude that toured with Tina Turner, but I have always felt there wasn't enough. With Robert Cray there was the Memphis Horn Section, which was cool.

Neil,
Nice to know of your family and music and that you are still envolved. Good luck with the guitar lessons

Re: Greatest Guitarist

Hey, I don't have to look for it, it seems to follow me around! LOL

Branko sent me an MP3 of an artist/band (Johnny B. Stulic/Azara) and it immediately reminded me of the name of the 80's band I was trying to think of with the female sax player, it was "QuarterFlash"
