Ever wonder what your Internet Speed was really? This is a pretty cool site for checking your speed and if you are the competitive type, I think you can even compare your speed with others around the world:

Thats a cool link Russell! I did the test for my connection...it showed 30 kbps download and 34 kbps upload speed, which, unfortunately is almost the double of what I get

But what I found real interesting was that my connection is faster than 1% people who have taken the test. So hey, someone out there is suffering more that I do LOL!!

Ahhhhh ..... look at mine ...

But when I download something the speed is shown as 7 kbps

I wish it was atleast that 54kbps

DB is the reigning speed demon it looks like

Neha and Kiittea I feel for you, thanks for putting things in perspective. The reason I did the test to begin with is because via FTP I am getting transrers of around 8Kp/s from our site and I am trying to figure out what is going on.

Here in India, Russell .. internet bandwith is a kind of growing up now .. and it is because of the recent boom we are able to get braodband, which actual means speeds not less than 256kbps as mentioned by telecom regulatory authority in India. But it is the issue of price that comes into scene 128 kbps itself comes for around 800 INR inlcuding all taxes which means 20 USD ..... We hope the prices to get down soon so that everyone gets better access to the better bandwiths.

Actually we do have 2 Mbps dedicated lines over here, but they are so expensive that only offices that are doing well can afford to have it...
