how to optimize performance for this config

i got new workstation for my 3d rendering job. the configuration is as follows:

dual intel xeon 3.6Ghz
intel server board SE7525GP2 ( for intel xeon processor)
2 gb DDR ram (2*1 gb)
NVIDIA geforce 6600 with 256 MB on board
SCSI 15k 36 Gb harddisk
sata 7k 120 Gb

i am using win 2000 advanced server.

my previous workstaion had a

single intel pentium IV 2.8 Ghz
512 mb DDR ram
on board 128MB 3GL graphics card

intel board.

now, i am getting performance as much as 8-10 times faster. is there any way to increse the performance by some more times. or what config shall i have to go for to optimize both dual xeon, 2 gb ram or the geforce card. is 2gb ram sufficient for utilizing dual xeon at its best? or shall i have to increase it to 4 Gb.

i will be grateful to anyone who would give me some light on these query. thanks a lot for your time.

WOW! I can't offer any suggestions as long as you have your DDR setup right, I have found that it does seem to make a difference, so if they are a matched set of fast ram chips I think you are good to go

Ur new setup is breathtaking pradipta. hmmm... in what way do you want the performance to be improved? With that new setting you can render almost everything on a high settings not exceeding and hour or two. Anyways, if what you ask if the rendering optimization, post the software ur using and i would be glad to help u out.

thanks a lot for all the kind words,

russell: thanks for the medal, i just love that a lot. . yes, i looking for some more changes if required to get optimum performance.

da rock: thanks. i am usinf 3dsmax 6 and 7. i wanetd to knwo if there are some hardware or software tweaking that i can do to get more speed and performance. for example what tweaking i can do with 3dsmax so that it gets maximum from a geforce card. would be glad to see some words,

me: currently my system is isolated from network. so, i am not keeping any antivirus or firewall within it.

with the video card that you have, you can emulate a quadro gfx card with the use of any tweaking software. Try looking it up at www.futuremark.com , i was able to tweak my Ti 4200 to a quadro with RivaTuner. Other than emulating it, the most that you can do is buy the physical quadro itself. In my own experience, fireGL works just fine.
