Re: Future of Max and what Users would like to see
Long time no body post anything in this thread. I like this thread, thanks to Russel.
I agree with Branco. Improvements in the area of landscape and plants modeling and texturing, Mental Ray and Vray both can be included in Max and another There should be a option to create Object VR in 3D Studio Max.

Re: Future of Max and what Users would like to see
I really like Neil's idea of adding Obect VR export capability in Max.
One thing that has been around for a while are the AEC Walls and Windows,Doors, yet everyone avoids them because of their boolean properties. I would like to see this improved in a future version of Max. I would like to see Autodesk try to make a tutorial about linking windows, doors to AEC walls and then modifiy the parameters, move the windows around, resize walls and see just how cumbersome these objects become. I still like to use these AEC objects, but currently unlink any windows and all their instances before modifying them in any way, then relinking to avoid most problems.
Re: Future of Max and what Users would like to see
That is good point man! I have used the Architecturall Desktop in past and I know how usefull those AEC object could be... However, in Max they are adopted long time ago from Viz, not evolved to folow their equivavelents in Desktop at all... I switched to poly modeling for some time, cause doing mostly interiors, but for large scale exterior models, the walls and window/door AEC could be great time saver. Also there is situation when you making lot of different appartment layouts/types which should be vizualized in some sort of catalogue, axonometric views, cieling removed... imagine proper working AEC objects in Max, you make one layout, you made them all, just move the walls and windows around...
But the polygonal nature of Max modeling is what slowing or stoping that to happen I think. You have to remember that Auto Cad solid modeling core is much more suitable for such things.
And when you import the wall with the hole from Cad, it is editable mesh, which only accept holes without additional edges. Polys need edges to connect to the holes...
Re: Future of Max and what Users would like to see
Russels thats indeed a good Q'n.
From a long time I have crazy idea of mergings fews softwares like max, photoshop, autocad into a single sofware, with a common interface, and similar tools...

Re: Future of Max and what Users would like to see
I think in next version of Max autodesk people should produce or merge like afterburn, dreamscape or tree storm like plugins and VRay can be include as a Render engine with MR
