Object VR In 3D S Max????

Is there any tool which can create Object VR for Quick Time in 3D Studio Max? I know there is a tool in Utility for Panorama but I did'nt find any tool for object VR.

Re: Object VR In 3D S Max????

In max, to use the panorama exporter, first select render from the utility panel, render all the six frames, from the rendered file, save it as export QuicktimeVR.

While this will work for interior VRs, I don't think you can make object VRs with it. I have used a software called 'Imove Panorama' for object VRs, it comes with another application called CGSeamer. It is pretty good for making VRs and also interconnecting VRs through selection regions etc.

Unfortunately I can't recall the website of this software and I don't really know if its still in production or not...I used to use it about 2 years back!

Re: Object VR In 3D S Max????

We did some max vr's a couple years ago. We export a panorama straight out of max then use Cubic Convertor to make the VR. Works pretty well. But cubic convertor a Mac program. Pretty easy if you have a mac handy.

Here is the site for converter: There is also a software for creating vr nodes. It works well too.

Re: Object VR In 3D S Max????

Thanks Neha and Jake for you valuable contribution here.
I know few softwares for Object VR like VR Warx, Cult 3D. I found the Cult 3D is pretty good. It used to support Max. When you install Cult 3D then it will also give a plugin called Cult3D Designer (*.C3d). After completing the model in 3D S Max then you have to export it in .C3D extension. Then it will work with the 3d Object in Cult 3D VR software but the only problem is that Cult3D cant export in QTVR format. To view you have to install the Cult 3D player. Thats why I am searching for any plugins or software which directly convert VR in QTVR format and which will support max formats.

Re: Object VR In 3D S Max????

Niel, try getting the software I've told you about...it had a lot of options to make advanced interlaced VRs, it works fine with 3dsmax.
  1. But if you are talking about VRs and not particularly object VRs, the panaroma utility inbuilt in 3ds max will be enough for you. I'll try explaining it to you in detail:
  2. To render with it, first of all you need to have a camera in the scene.
  3. From the utility tab, select the Panorama Exporter.
  4. Click on the render button and set up your scene like you would normally do, select the camera that will act as the center of your VR and then render the scene.
  5. After it had finished rendering all the six frames, it will show up in the Panaroma Exporter Viewer window like a VFB.
  6. Click on file>Export>Export QuickTimeVR and save the VR. Then your can view on your Quicktime player.

From what I understood of your problem, this should be enough. Try this out, if still it dosen't work for you then post here what problem you are facing...

Re: Object VR In 3D S Max????

Hi neha,
Thanks for you suggestion Neha. But I am not talking about PANORAMA VR, I am talking about OBJECT VR in 3ds max. I am confident about Panorama VR. I had made few Panorama movie and it is given very good result and it is also exporting in QTVR format well but I need any kind of max plug-in or software which will support max object format. From where I can create Object VR qtvr movie.

Re: Object VR In 3D S Max????

Neil...I don't think there is any way of creating an object VR from inside 3ds max without the use of any plugin. Let me look up for the plugin I have used to do object VRs, like I told you...its very good, just that I haven't kept myself update on it and haven't used it in the past two years...

Re: Object VR In 3D S Max????

I looked up on the net for that software, it seems that its out of production now...I coudn't find any information related to it

Anyways, I found this article. Using the technique they have mentioned...you can render an object in different frames and compose them to make an object VR in Photoshop. Though I haven't tried it out right now, it seems that this would do the job for you..

I've always used a program called "VR Worx" for VR work.

Re: Object VR In 3D S Max????

Thanks Neha and Rotten for your contributions.

Neha, I had seen the tutorial. It is pretty cool and new concept. But one problem with it. You can rotate the object only horizontally. There is no option for horizontal and vertical both. That only will be possible when you can import the 3d object in the VR Scene.
Neha, thank you very much the amount of efforts you contributed here.
