Animating a falling debris(landslide effect)

i have to make an effect where i need to show a landslide effect, like some part of the moutain become loose and slides on to the road next to it, i tried the fracture reactor in 3dsmax by making a copy of a part of the mountain and cracked it manually making the chunks, the mountain and the road a rigid bodies, but the problem with the reactor is that what ever has mass will always fall straight to the ground, and more over the fracture reactor has this strange problem like after a few seconds into the simulation it explodes the chunks like in a blast sending the chunks flying in all directions, can any one out there have a better way of doing this effect or is it that i m doing the fracture process wrongly...

You may want to look at the tutorial on waterfalls put up in the cargo container challenge:

Re: Animating a falling debris(landslide effect)

you can use particles for the landslide effect, by assigning diffirent shapes , and putting same material same with the materials for the moutain, sizes of the particles can be make variables ( small to large ) try to put some noise and bumps on the materails so it will looks more realistic. Just take a look on my cargo container tuts... You can even assign wind reactors to simulate the direction of the particles and it can be varies too, (strong to weak force)

additional notes: make the mountain as your deflectors. Should YOU need a tutorial for this specific subject let me know, i will provide one.
