Environmental Geologist by profession, Arch Vis by avocation. I'm hoping to be the exception to the rule that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I first visited 3dAllusions in my quest to develop my visualization abilities and got drawn into the great bunch of folks who frequent here.
I own a small land development company that specializes in problematic sites, ones which have had environment contamination issues, problematic soils, or in the need of creative solutions. Recognizing the benefits of visual representations spurred me to enter into the visualization world. I started demonstrating plumes of contamination traveling through soil and ground water to show to citizen groups and governmental agencies the effects of the contamination and the potential results of our proposed remediation efforts.
My company rarely builds but we do rezone property and conduct "paper development" delivering lots for home builders, and parcels for commercial end users. Rather than present colored up paper plans, 3D has offered visuals of what the projects may look like after completion which has be enormously helpful in obtaining required approvals. For years I relied on the traditional renderings done for me by others and I was always making changes and was one of the clients often bemoaned by them as never being satisfied, so, to keep the peace I decided to learn how to do my own visuals. The process continues and I draw a lot of inspiration from the members and visitors that post their work here. One day I can only hope to reach the level of those whose work I admire so much.
