MR materials.com
I'd like to say a big thank you for creating the site.
If there's one thing I could suggest for it it would be to have the name of the material with the thumbnail. I find it hard to tell what the material is without clicking the thumbnail.

Re: MR materials.com
Thanks for the input, you can always hit the 'list' option when on the thumbnail pages

Re: MR materials.com
I of course listen to people suggestions and will consider them, but to me I like the clean thumbnail image, a picture says a thousand words and if you are in the wood section you know it is wood and if it looks interesting select the thumbnail and you will be taken to the download page, if you hit the thumbnail on that page the 500x500 version (that you are suppose to use when uploading content) pops up and you can make your decision based on that large image. Text screws up the format on the thumbnail page.
Of course I listen to the users, but I have it set up how I would and do want it and as I use it or hear other peoples contents will go from there

Re: MR materials.com
I may have been a bit grumpy in that response, I was up all night uploading materials to the site. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: MR materials.com
great looking site.
I agree that text of the mat name would be good, how about a mouse over command for the text when viewing thumbnails this would keep the page clean. You already have the mouse over command included in the code to show selection with a very pretty orange outline.
Also it would better to get the larger 500x500 image when clicking the details page as the list view almost negates the need for an extra page for further details without a larger view. I do realise that you want people to comment and vote etc on each material but most users will be using the site as a resource repository so will want to get at the data and see the larger detailed picture as quickly and with as few clicks as possible.
A picture does indeed say a thousand words... but it has to be large enough to read those thousand words!

Re: MR materials.com
The list view thumbnail opening the bigger version is a good one, I don't have problems with the thumbnail page and like the uncluttered look, but the hover over info is a good idea as well, but lots of things sound easy and aren't, I will take those ideas under advisement, but of course won't pay programmers thousands of dollars (I can only do so much and have to bring in the big boys for some things, I am not a programmer or webdesigner) to to make it happen, this was all out of my pocket and it is a free site, so you kind of have to take what you get! LOL

Re: MR materials.com
Congrats on the site. Nicely done. I'll preface the following with; I know you are going above and beyond the...call of duty So I humbly make these suggestions:
Definitely would like 1 click access to full size image.
The "next" link at the bottom of the individual material page needs to actually go the the next material - in the same category
An icon (or other means) to denote "collections". A quick look in the cloth texture folder shows (at first glance) only 3 textures. So maybe something to show that it is a collection of textures.
On another topic, is this forum to be used as a discussion/question forum for MrMaterials?
Thats it for now Thanks for all your hard work.

Re: MR materials.com
I am checking into some of these items, the navigation of 'Previous and Next' Is a special 'GRAB BAG' feature where you never know what you will get, it is a SUPRISE! LOL Kidding aside, will look into it
Icon for collections could be tough, maybe redoing the materials in a cascading effect for rhe thumbnails and explaining it in the description is easiest for now, or us as staff adding an icon right ontop of the thumbnail is a solution at this point.
Yes we will support MrM in these forums, I really don't want to create a whole new forum to maintain and would like to pursue taking care of discussions and questions here. 3DA has a majority of archvis postings, but the site was never intended soley for that purpose so members should feel free to post about any genere and we will start to cover more on mr here as well. So yes use these forums and let me know if you need more categories or something, I just set up a rudimentary structure in advance preparation of supporting MrM.
