Re: OTG17 - Questions and Answers This is an awesome challenge and I'm very excited about getting started.
I have two question however.
On what merits will the posts be judged?
Obviously the quality of the posts are important, but how much of the conceptual content would be considered important to win over the judges?
For instance the use of certain recycled materials... -

Re: OTG17 - Questions and Answers
The final image should portray your design intent. It should be a visual treat that is in character with the methods of architectural visualization. Judging:
The Judges will review the entries based on the Assignment broken down by 1/3 design, 1/3 implementation of design (modeling, texturing, lighting and composition), 1/3 aesthetic/artistic impact of image and award their selection for Grand Prize, Runner Up, Honorable Mention and two additional places in as timely a fashion as possible. In the event that any of the judges must resign their position, we reserve the right to substitute with an appropriate replacement. The panel’s decisions are final.
With that said, judges are experts in the field of archviz not sustainable architecture, so I am GUESSING that visual impact will have more weight than technical accuracy and visionary material selection, but I am not a judge, what is in the rules is all I can say is going to be their criteria. I hope that make sense. -

Also very thankful that we don't all have to get too bogged down with too much technical details, but research does help. -

Re: OTG17 - Questions and Answers Yes as off the grid is the title of the contest, don't take that portion lightly, you just don't have to show the inner workings of everything.... -

Re: OTG17 - Questions and Answers hi, just want to clarify this rule:
b.) You are free to post the renders to other sites and forums, but you must link to this site/challenge thread. Renderings to be posted here prior to any other site during the duration of the Contest.
So that meens we are allowed to post during the period of contest images anywhere, just with condition, that the renders would apear here first. Yes?
Usualy in contests the rules don't ollow post anything outside contest forum until the final deadline =) so i'm just trying to clarify, just in case =) I miss understood something =) glimps -

Re: OTG17 - Questions and Answers We will allow it, just participate here as much as elsewhere. People post at other sites and if I went around and reprimanded, people would think I am a JERK. So we are lax about it. BUT, I hate it when people take our scenes and start threads elsewhere, distribute the models and don't participate here. We want to see your work here and we want credit given to 3DA, but we realize people have their favorite hangouts and people they like to share with and get input from, just use good common sense and participate here and post here first. Even better, try to get your friends to come join the fun, the more participants the happier our sponsors are.

Re: OTG17 - Questions and Answers Sounds like a great idea for a contest, so I think ill enter, but I have a question about the prizes.
I read through the rules, but I did not read anything that mentions who is responsible for paying the taxes on the prizes. Will the winners be responsible for any taxes or fees?
Thanks! -
