    hey man really like your ideas! the kite genarator, awsome! think the somewhat new tech, is a real contender for sea side towns! i take it ur doing a sea side house? if yes, have you thought about tiedal or wave power? Ivar van der Drift - The Kite House-bildschirmfoto-2011-11-30-um-08.55.35.png maybe something smaller you could tie to a jetti

    Re: Salt in the walls - Phase Change Materials

    @Martani:
    Thnx for the info. Maybe i will use this tied-system as a back-up system.

    For now I have the kites for the electricity, solarpanels for hotwatersupply with a palletwoodburner as a back-up.
    The PCM-system to reduce energy usage. Sewage-filters and rainwater-usage including filters to get water.
    I almost forgot the hottub with woodburner and the hot chick who steers the water for me... what do i need more...
    Food and drinks... hmmmm ... i need to include some sort of greenhouse or vegetablesarea to grow them myself...

    @Rod:
    Rod, I will try to incorporate "your wife" in the final render

    @Russel:
    Sorry, no girls in this picture, but see my message to Rod

    This is my first test-render from my scene in his surrounding. No textures yet except the water. The kites and windturbines at the horizon still has to be included.

    Hope you like the scene!!
    First finalize the model and then the next step to put in the materials.

    Greenhouse at sea

    Hi all,

    Thanx to Martani i got the idea to use the tide to get drinkable water out of saltwater.
    The saltwater will be pumped up mechanical by the floating greenhouses on the tide. The movement up and down pushes the saltwater through a filter and the proces of (forward and reverse) osmose by using a membrane will do the rest. So the greenhouse is self-sustainable and irrigates itself... hereby also a simple render of the floating greenhouses...

    Re: Greenhouse at sea

    I like the idea of the floating greenhouse but the way you have them they would be quite unstable in anything but calm waters. I think the bollards are a little large
    A better bet would be to have a larger platform that 4 or so could fit on with room on the sides for docking and maintenance. Bumpers between the platforms would also be a good idea.
    I like the desalination idea

    Re: Greenhouse at sea

    @AubreyM:
    Thnx for the comments. As a location for the scene I had the Mediterranean Sea in mind (with not extremely big waves), but also then the floating greenhouses would be a bit unstable. You are right about this . Good suggestion to combine them. The reason why I had created them like this is the lenght of the waves and to find a maximum of energy out of these waves (top and bottom of the waves). ...and inspiried by the picture of Martini.
    The big bollards are this big because of the mechanical system with filter/membrane in it ... etc. The pole itself has a diameter (width) of 250mm and is drilled in the bottom of the sea. With the system included it is 530mm. I think that's reasonable :/. And yes ... the bumpers... very good suggestion! The bollards wil keep the greenhouses from bumping into each other, but for safety and docking its necessary! Thnx again and i will give soon an update! I doesn't have to be that there is one wave and my greenhouses are gone ....
