Re: Ivar van der Drift - The Kite House

Hereby i post also a not completely ready-pictures i wanted to put in the entry, but didnt make it because of the crash of my laptop....
I also cant show all the things i put in the house, as ideas, because they are hidden within the walls. It uses the latest innovations so it can be a modern house with all modern stuff because the house is powered by Kite-electrical-energy combined with old-fashioned OTG use of windmills (as shown in the background of the main-picture).
How to get the energy of the kite is shown on the website shown earlier in the thread.

Good luck everyone!!! Ivar van der Drift - The Kite House-otg1.jpg

I still want to know where you got that picture of my wife!! LOL, glad she returned, I thought she'd been whisked away by one of the kites that had broken loose!

Re: Ivar van der Drift - The Kite House

    Hi all,
Just to inform you how my work progress went....
I like to model in Sketchup because it is an easy to use program.
I took out the windowframes and replaced them by high "harmonica"-slidingdoors. I kept the roof and woodpanel underneath the roof. Kept the outerwalls between the window frames and the outdoor-lamp. I enlarged the wooden balcony and had to model the wood because i first didnt know how to create them with displacement in Vray for sketchup.
I made the model wider and copied the frames. I also used the fence and balusters provided in the standard model.
@ andymarkthomas: The google warehouse is a nice library to get some ready models although the quality to use them and export them you have to remodel them almost allways. For example, there was a model of the "dutchtub" but this one didn't match the real measures so i had to remodel it. Also when you use Vray for Sketchup you have to change allmost every material when you want it to turn out well!
But this also a thing when you use 3dsmax with mental ray and an old library of for instance Evermotion... I like to bring some personal touch in my images so i put always a photos of myself, my wife or sons in it.

See the picture: i took a same shot from the provided model which i used for my final entry

You've certainly taken Sketchup a lot further then I ever have. Well done.

Just to show my build-up of my entry-image i post this image.
The first part is the modeling-phase, the second is the materialising-phase and the third is the render-phase.

    Greetz!

  2. Format the chats :
  3. once you un-collapse the chatbox formatting toolbar by clicking on the BBCode button, you have access to different formatting options for your chats. You can format a chat by selecting a part (or the totality) of it and then select one of the buttons/list. You can also add empty formatting tags by selecting nothing and clicking one of the buttons/menu thus allowing you to add the chat text afterwards between these tags.*
  4. Access to the different channels : you can have access to different channels restricted to only some usergroupds or for specifics use of the chatbox. The different channels are accessible from the buttons on the left of the chatbox.*
  5. Edit your chats (or others chats) : the edition of a chat can be done by a simple double-click on it.*
  6. Use specific commands : some commands can be accessible in the chatbox depending on the will of the administrator(s) of your forum. These commands let you execute specific actions of formatting, management, etc... You will herebelow the information on the command which are accessible to you.
