Great open space reminds me of some areas in Wyoming. Bet geothermal could come into play.

    Re: Mateusz Grzybowski | Untitled

    Moving forward

I spent a lot of hours on making the terrain.
I had to find an appropriate way for optimized and quite regularly mesh.
    It was a horror!

But finally I have some results

First, I started to import a single mountains from Vue, but the file contains a lot of polygons (>12,000,000), weigh about 500 Mb and saving the file takes about 1 to 5 min. Not nice at the very beginning.

Render created from meshes imported from Vue

I didn't want to do everything from beginning I started to look for solutions. So I made the Height Maps from existing mesh, and export it as .tif to World Machine and I received a nice clear mesh.

Next Export to Zbrush and add some detail and Mapping.

After hours of exporting, importing, modeling and baking maps finally back to 3d Studio Max

To display images in higher resolution open pictures in a new tab.

I hope you like it, renders from 3d max are only for test simply settings I hope it will look better in the final resolution.

    Best Regards
    Matt

Your terrain is very nice. Just a bit curious, is the terrain a poly or a mesh? Certainly a large area, it will be nice to see how large the structure is in that space. I'll have to look into world machine, looks to produce a very nice base to start on.

    Re: Mateusz Grzybowski | Untitled

Structure of the building will be like on the sketch in the foreground based on the right side. World machine is very useful, some use it in conection with Vue createing stunning views. Probably I could get better results build the whole area in World Machine but I needed a specific terrain that fits into my concept and I do not know enough of this program to create exactly what I need.
That is why I use the height maps.

Here is a map that I use to generate the base.

    P.S. Terrain is a Poly

After rendering out a highly detailed texture on the detailed mesh, you did export a reduced poly mesh and apply the detailed texture didn't you? Normal mapping from detailed mesh is also an option. Just asking

    Small Update ...

Russell -> Yes but I apply detailed textures painted in Zbrush: Diffuse Map, Displace Map and Normal Mapa because to create this terrain Hight Map generated at the beginning in not enough to receive details.

    Next update soon

It won't be long until there would be a few ice fishing shanties on that lake. Nice stuff!
