Hi everyone, this is my first time joining this kind of competition & I'm glad to participate even having rough time coping with the deadline. Still got a month though, I'll try to give it a shot.
Based on the concept "Off-the-grid" I come up with a concept from the reference images. I'm quite allured with scenes of this kind so I decided to put it in perspective.
I'm still working on some reference images for the main source of power which could be a micro hydro turbine or an old water wheel. I might go with the micro hydro turbine as it can easily be concealed in the stream whilst exposed water wheel should match with the finish of the house as well as the aesthetics of the design. Got to start quick with this scene. Good luck everyone!
Software, plug-in, textures, scripts used for this challenge:
3Ds Max Design 2011, Photoshop CS4, Vray 2.0, Xfrog, R&D Group, CGtextures, Arroway Textures, Advanced Painter, Pixplant, Knoll Light factory

welcome to the challenge dude!!!yah, agree with Russell, A month is plenty of time to work....looking forward on your updates.... welcome mastah rich!!!!!
Thanks for all your encouraging words. It's nice to be back. Did some base topography modeling last night & a basic light set-up. I'm still looking for a fourth camera angle to support the 4 image deliverable.
Looking forward to hear your suggestions.

Thanks M' Bien for your enthusiastic approach. You're quite ahead of the pack now with very promising results! I'd love to see your updates too!
Working on mapping the finish of the house, I come up with a classic log house together with the turbine room, which should match with a sub-tropical mossy environment feeling. Lighting was still poor with Vraysun as the main source of light, without soft light coming from an HDR. Shadow areas are very poor having only one source of light, which I will deal with later on. Got to put piece by piece the environment elements which is a tedious work to model from scratch.
The terrain & rocks was still in its low-poly stage as it needs more improvements. I better have a good asset for this one. Back to the drawing board..
