    Lighthouse in SketchUp

Just a quick model of a lighthouse I did recently, nothing to fancy, just needed to closely replicate an existing lighthouse for far away viewing.

    Awesome Russell,
Sketchup is easy, right? I didn't used it yet.
Are you going to render it with Maxwell?

    Cheers

What is the difference between the cream and blue colored faces...I think I read somewhere that the blue ones are flipped and won't show when imported in max...is that so??

    Re: Lighthouse in SketchUp

Yes Neha, if you are in monotone mode, you can see the normals, any poly that is facing you and is blue is reversed. Select the face and right mouse button and chose 'Reverse Face'. Should be good to go

Speedy, hopefully you will be able to see a good rendering sometime next week. Thanks!

    Re: Lighthouse in SketchUp

I ran out of time in the finding shores contest and had to composite and post process the heck out of several draft/test renders from Vue Infinite. I am rendering it now with high quality settings, but it has been rendering for a week already and is 27% done, with a total estimated time of 266 hours, so I hope it is good! You can see why I didn't have my rendering done in time! LOL Anyway, my entry was a landscape to provoke the emotion of 'Finding Shore' and not an attempt at doing a fantastic rendering of a lighhouse, it is in the distance. Perhaps I will put up the model in our resources when I get enough time to update our selection on the main site. Well I will show what I was able to come up with, but it isn't what I planned. Maybe in a couple weeks when this render finishes, I can show something good! Please no power outages, please no power outages, please...............

Neha and Paulo on the other hand came up with a beautiful renderings for the contest, Neha's located here: Pharos Lighthouse, Alexandria

The main thing was to support another site's contest, so the three of us hung out there a bit. So if you haven't gone to Vizdeopt or 'VD' as we like to call it, you should check it out. http://www.vizdepot.com/

OMG...that is really LONG!! I hope there is no power outage or any other problem and the rendering goes smoothly...I'm really looking forward to see your final version.

The MGC Chatbox Evo is really easy to use

You can :

  2. Format the chats :
  3. once you un-collapse the chatbox formatting toolbar by clicking on the BBCode button, you have access to different formatting options for your chats. You can format a chat by selecting a part (or the totality) of it and then select one of the buttons/list. You can also add empty formatting tags by selecting nothing and clicking one of the buttons/menu thus allowing you to add the chat text afterwards between these tags.*
  4. Access to the different channels : you can have access to different channels restricted to only some usergroupds or for specifics use of the chatbox. The different channels are accessible from the buttons on the left of the chatbox.*
  5. Edit your chats (or others chats) : the edition of a chat can be done by a simple double-click on it.*
  6. Use specific commands : some commands can be accessible in the chatbox depending on the will of the administrator(s) of your forum. These commands let you execute specific actions of formatting, management, etc... You will herebelow the information on the command which are accessible to you. You must notice that you are not forced to use the command prefixes (/command_name) when you use them in the channel they are attached to (except in the general channel).*
* : Depending on the settings chosen by the administrator(s) of the forum, you might not have access to all these features.
